Acidic liquids or even untreated hard water from the tap, can quickly eat at the marble surface leaving the finish dull and looking ruined.  The damaged marble needs to be polished to a new surface making the finish like new again. In light damage cases, we start with a diamond compound that rips away the old surface while polishing a new surface. In heavily etched and dull marble, we start with a set of diamond pads that rage from 60 - 3000 grits.  Usually starting with 500 grit and assessing from there what grit is needed to start with.  After the finish is brought to the 3000 grit level, it is polished with diamond compounds. The result is your marble looking brand new while saving you the thousands it would cost to replace the entire kitchen.
